Samantha’s Cafe and Catering

Samantha’s Cafe and Catering is currently run by two Glens Falls dynamos, Liz Wilcox and Jennifer Kraft. The cafe and catering business is energized by their enthusiasm, passion, and individual personalities. A local favorite, Samantha’s is a gathering place for great food, friends, and community.

Having recently relocated to 193 Glen St, Samantha’s has stepped up their cafe game and is a very appealing spot for our local vegetarian and vegan community.

Without modifications, one can order the Tofu scramble burrito, baked bananas foster oatmeal, and fancy toast (depending on which toppings). And with some minor modifications, enjoy the hummus sandwich and the […]

Dizzy Chicken Wood Fired Rotisserie

Having just opened a few weeks ago after undergoing what appears to be significant renovations, people seem to be enjoying this new South Street restaurant’s offerings. So, we decided to reach out and ask if there was anything vegan-friendly on the menu.

A representative from the restaurant replied saying, “We do offer a grilled vegetable panini with eggplant, zucchini, roasted red peppers, goat cheese and a sun dried tomato spread. The goat cheese could be left off if one is vegan. We also do a caprese salad with house made mozzarella if they were lacto-ovo vegetarian (or simply omit the mozzarella). […]

Morgan & Co. Restaurant

Morgan & Co. is owned by husband-and-wife team Steve Butters and Rebecca Newell-Butters, both with some serious chops in the kitchen — Steve has appeared on the Food Network’s Sweet Genius and Rebecca won the Food Network’s reality show Chopped in 2009. They both were working as chefs in Boston but came to Rebecca’s hometown to open Morgan & Co. in the historic McEchron House. You can read more about them in this recent article, or on their website, which lets you make a reservation online.

Be forewarned: This is definitely a place where you need to make a reservation. They’re busy!

Dragon Salt Works

Dragon Salt Works, located on the first floor of The Shirt Factory, an arts and healing center with more than 12 retail shops and 80+ artists, is a specialty shoppe carrying Himalayan salt lamps, spa products, gourmet salts and other salt products such as salt shot glasses and grilling and chilling planks. The salt is vegan, being just pure salt, of course, but we’re featuring it because of a unique salt they carry: Black Salt, also known as Kala Namak.

This lower-sodium salt carries a sulfur flavor and smell and the label says that it can be used in vegan dishes to […]

Dickinson’s Delights

Dickinson’s Delights is located on the first floor of The Shirt Factory, an arts and healing center in a former factory building brought to new life, with more than 12 first floor shops and more than 50 artists on the other floors. It’s run by Jon and Tamberlyn Dickinson, who are very involved with the Glens Falls Farmers’ Market. You have probably seen them there making crépes!

They are known for their baked goods, but they also have a coffee and sandwich shop. Their menu is different every single day.

What they have to offer vegans is an occasional soup. The best […]

Pizza Jerks

Pizza Jerks is a great delivery and walk-in pizza joint. Their menu can be found here, and due to popular demand, they are currently offering their pizzas with vegan Daiya cheese! You can also order cheeseless pizza.

Note that the regular sauce has Romano cheese in it, so request the margherita sauce which is just pureed tomatoes.

Also note that the regular pizza dough does contain whey, but they offer a thin crust made from a flour tortilla wrap.

Vegan salads and wraps are available, just communicate with your server.

Coffee Planet

Coffee Planet has great coffeeshop ambiance, with a giant chalkboard menu, relaxed atmosphere and local art on the walls. They do an open mic night on Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. and participates in the Third Thursday Art Walks.

They offer a nice salad selection and their fruit smoothies are vegan. Daily soups often include a vegan option. Breads and bakery items are made with eggs or butter, so be informed. They have a veggie wrap on the menu but it’s unclear whether the tortilla wrap itself is vegan. The hummus is vegan, and you can ask for veggies to […]
